The chipmaker revealed late Friday that it will invest $1 billion in Naver, the country's dominant internet conglomerate, to support the expansion of an AI data center currently under construction in South Korea. Additionally, Nvidia announced a long-term commercial partnership with SK Group valued at more than $500 billion, encompassing purchases of high-bandwidth memory chips from SK Hynix and supercomputers from Nvidia.

The $1 billion investment in Naver will allow the internet company to more than triple the capacity of its planned AI data center from 55 megawatts to 200 megawatts. This expansion is made possible by a nonbinding term sheet from US private equity firm Brookfield, which has agreed to fund up to $9 billion for the project. The facility will be powered entirely by Nvidia's AI computing hardware, making it a showcase for the company's advanced GPU technology.
